Tasting Notes

Blackberry and blueberry aromas, together with green olives, stems and peaches. Full-bodied and very tailored, with a firm, linear finish. Gorgeous already. Wonderful length, depth and finish. Mushroom at the end. Really classic. Try after 2027.

Score: 97 James Suckling (JS), JamesSuckling.com, January 2022

The 2019 Hosanna is fabulous, just as it was from barrel. Inky, rich and explosive, the 2019 possesses o! the charts fruit intensity. As always Hosanna leans towards the dark side of black/blue fruit. An exotic mélange of tar, gravel, licorice, incense and spice builds in the glass, filling out the layers e!ortlessly. Soft contours give Hosanna its allure, but I would not be in any rush here. The balance of opulent fruit and structure makes for a super-compelling Pomerol. Drinking Window: 2029-2059

Score: 97 Antonio Galloni (AG), Vinous Media (VM), January 2022

The 2019 Hosanna sports a deep garnet-purple color and flamboyant notes of crushed black cherries, black raspberries, fruitcake and boysenberries with hints of allspice, potpourri, tilled soil and wild mushrooms plus a provocative touch of iron ore. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is laden with spiced black fruit layers, textured by beautifully plush tannins and just enough freshness, finishing long and earthy.

Score: 95-97 Lisa Perrotti-Brown (LPB), The Wine Advocate (WA), June 2020

The 2019 Hosanna comes across as a tad underwhelming on the nose with blackberry and raspberry coulis, though just a few swirls, and it begins to find its voice. It is still quite expressive after several minutes. The palate is well-defined with fine tannins that frame the plush yet precise black fruit, judiciously spiced with a long and tender finish. Top class. Tasted blind at the Southwold annual tasting. Drinking Window: 2025-2055

Score: 97 Neal Martin (NM), Vinous Media (VM), December 2021

The 2019 Hosanna has turned out well, exhibiting opulent aromas of sweet berry fruit, plums, spices and creamy new oak. Full-bodied, rich and velvety, it´s broad and enveloping, with supple tannins and an ample core of ripe, generously extracted fruit. Hosanna is the most dramatic wine in the Mouiex portfolio this year, as is often the case.

Score: 95 William Kelley (WK), The Wine Advocate (WA), April 2022
