Domaine Robert Groffier (Robert Groffier Père & Fils) is a small, highly regarded Burgundy estate in the Côte de Nuits, with vineyards in Chambolle-Musigny, Gevrey-Chambertin and others.
The domaine specializes in Pinot Noir from premier and grand cru sites such as Bonnes-Mares, Chambertin Clos de Bèze and Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses, producing expressive, complex and elegant reds in limited quantities.
Domaine Robert Groffier starts in the 19th century with Frédéric Groffier, who began assembling vineyards in the Côte de Nuits. In the 1930s his descendant Jules Groffier, a former racing cyclist turned vigneron, expanded the holdings with prized parcels in villages like Chambolle-Musigny and Gevrey-Chambertin, setting the foundation for the domaine’s future reputation.
From the 1950s, Robert Groffier pushed quality further by bottling at the estate and carefully expressing each terroir, gradually gaining international attention for concentrated yet elegant Pinot Noir. In 2005, his grandson Nicolas Groffier took over, combining meticulous vineyard work with a more precise, modern style, which has lifted the domaine into the top tier of Burgundy producers while remaining firmly rooted in its family traditions and nearly 200-year history on these same slopes.
