This is almost as restrained as the Musigny and more elegant than the Clos de la Roche with its cool essence of red currant, lavender, violet, forest floor and subtle spice notes. The palate impression of the highly energetic and refined medium weight flavors is consistent with the nose as they too are restrained with an almost pungent minerality that surfaces on the taut, driving and explosively long finish. This is a classic Latricières of grace allied with plenty of punch.

Deceptive in its translucence, the Latricières-Chambertin is another Leroy 2014 that speaks eloquently of place. Finesse and marvelously sculpted in the glass, the Latricières is simply mesmerizing. Savory herb, smoke, tobacco and graphite inflections add complexity throughout. Here, too, it is an overall impression of regal beauty that is deep and lasting. What a profoundly beautiful wine this is.
