Discreet but not invisible wood frames quite a cool but elegant mix of red and blue orchard fruit that introduces mineral-inflected and big-bodied flavors that possess excellent mid-palate concentration as well as a stunningly long finish. This is not only exceptionally complex but I also like the sophistication of the tannins.

Bright medium red. Aromatic nose combines dusty black raspberry, cocoa powder, chocolate, spices and herbs, plus a suggestion of resiny superripeness. Saline and savory in the mouth, with an initially restrained sweetness to the redcurrant, iron and cocoa flavors. Finishes with substantial dusty, slightly dry-edged tannins that will require patience. An awkward showing today but this wine revealed more red fruits and a silkier texture with extended aeration.
